Sister Started Second Grade

Sister started her the second grade today. She was not sure whether she really wanted school to start gain. Some days she didn’t want to go back to school. Other days she couldn’t wait for school to start. Her biggest fear was making friends. Sister was the new kids last year and really never had a best friend. The problem with girls at this age is that they aren’t always good at playing with more than one person at a time. Thus, when all the pairing off occurred, Sister was some times left out. This may also have been due to the fact that she just over dramatizes the situation and is used to getting things her own way as the oldest. We’re praying this year goes more smoothly in that regard.

When I picked her up after school today she declared, “Second grade is better than first. We get to do harder stuff and lots of science.” This is saying a lot since she loved her teacher last year and really did enjoy all they did in class. She even had homework already which she was thrilled about.

The big excitement at school was that they each were assigned two meal worms. Sister named her worms, Tickle Monster (because it tickles when you touch it) and Corn Lover (because it stayed in the corn the whole time). Fortunately, they will stay at school as Mom doesn’t need anymore creatures living in her house.

The fun isn't over yet. Tonight we're going to have individual pizzas for dinner. The kids are looking forward to creating their own pizzas on English muffins. Sister is especially excited because they get to watch the movie, A Series of Unfortunate Events, for movie night tonight. Sister read this series over the summer and really loved it. Daddy liked it too.

Here are some photos from this morning. Enjoy!!!

Sister and the boys heading out the door for school. Can you tell Baby Bear is ready to get moving?
Sister is greeted at school by Father Patrick. He’s such a funny and friendly guy.
Brother Bear was a bit over zealous with his goodbye kisses and Sister had to tell him to, “Stop kissing me!”

Sister's teacher greets them individually everyday. How cool is that?

Baby Bear really liked the second grade classroom and would have been happy to stay with Sister all day.
Sister sits proudly at her desk. Notice the High School Musical spiral and folders she picked out this year? My little baby girl is growing up too fast!
