Six Stitches

The weekend after Brother's sixth birthday, my dh loaded the kids up and headed up to Grandma and Grandpa S's house. The kids love to go there. We even have a song,

"Over the ferry and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go..."

While I have no photos from this very fun visit (hint, hint, Grandma), I know they had a wonderful time playing with their cousins, visiting with Uncle B, Grandma and Grandpa, and playing in the woods.

On Saturday Brother was playing in the woods with Sister and their cousin and while either climbing a tree or running through the woods (I've heard the story told both ways) Brother fell and hit his face on a tree branch. He split his upper lip open and knocked one of his two front teeth out. It was a pretty scary experience for Brother, but he was REALLY brave.

After a visit to urgent care to receive six stitches on Saturday and a visit to the pediatric dentist on Monday morning, we were VERY happy to discover that the tooth that was knocked out was only a baby tooth. What a way to break in Brother's sixth year of life!!!

Fire Station!!!

The kids had a few days off for conferences this week, so we all had a great time visiting the South Bay Fire Department with my moms' group. The group watched Fire Fighter Daniel get into his bunker gear.Little Man wasn't too keen on getting too close.
Brother Bear loved it.
Sister was part of the demonstration.
Little Man couldn't wait to see the trucks.Hanging out in the ladder truck.Brother strapped himself into every seat he found.
Little Man even found the keys.Checking out the ambulance.See, he's strapped in...again. (;Ready for a ride?
The group!Thank you South Sound Fire Department.
You all are the best!!!

Brother Bear Turns Six!!!

Brother Bear is officially Six-Years-Old!!! We always celebrate on each of the kids' "real" birthdays no matter how many cakes and cupcakes I've made that week.
Brother loved having us sing to him.
He also enjoyed "finally" opening his presents.
We LOVE hooded towels!!!Brother was desperate to have a diary with a lock on it. You can imagine how difficult it is to find a non-girly one.
After having to explain that the one with Justin Bieber on it (who Brother doesn't know) is not a boy diary just because it has a picture of a boy on it.
Finally, I found one and he loved it!!! Yeah! Hours of fun with transformers!!!
Brother loves umbrellas and has a poor track record with them. (; Look, it's a jet!
Now, it's a robot!
How cool is that?Daddy enjoyed figuring out how to put them all together to make a giant transformer.
Besides enjoying cake (and chocolate chip mint ice cream) and opening presents, Brother also received loving calls all day from family and school friends to wish him a Happy Birthday!!!
We also watched The Empire Strikes Back. Before bed, we sat together and went through Brother's first year scrapbook.
Happy 6th Birthday, Brother Bear!!!
We love you and thank God for bringing you into our lives every day!!!

The entire kindergarten, first, and second grades sang to Brother and two other kids celebrating their birthdays today.
One of Brother's classmates was also celebrating her birthday today too.
Here's Brother and one of his friends from school.Little Man enjoyed helping Brother celebrate.
Yum...chocolate!
Sister came by to wish Brother well as he set off to hand out cupcakes to the school staff.More celebrating to come tomorrow with another cake and presents!!!

St. Patrick's Day

A leprechaun sprung our traps.
We didn't catch him, but he did leave us some yummy gold candy.
The kids both left notes next to their traps.
Sister's stated:
A fun new way to swing.
(This would entice the leprechaun onto her trap).
She also asked the Leprechaun to leave a note, but he declined to do so. (;
Brother's stated:
Please stop here.
The kids were thrilled to wake up and find the candy.
Brother really wanted to leave the trap out in case the leprechaun came again.
I convinced him the leprechaun wouldn't come again until next year. (=
Next, it was time to head off to school.
Doesn't Brother look smashing? (=
I actually took this after school because mornings are crazy around here.
Unfortunately, Sister had already removed (and misplaced) her Shamrock hair clips by then.
We picked Daddy up from work and headed down south to watch some of the advanced dancers from Sister's school perform their Irish dancing to live music.
It was standing room only and very packed.
We enjoyed a yummy dinner and the live entertainment.
Our favorite part was the a cappella dance they did. So amazing!!!
I hope all of you had a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day!
