Skateland

The Friday after returning from Seaside, I took the two big kids to Skateland during Baby Bear's nap. Brother is just starting out on skates. He's only been once before and my dh had him wear the four wheel ones that they provide at the rink rather than the roller blades I had purchased for him. He thought they'd be easier for him. Sadly, he hadn't done that well. He basically just clung to Daddy the entire time.
This time, Momma was in charge. I strapped him into his roller blades (which I believe are easier and more comfortable) and I also added elbow and knee pads, plus some wrist guards. I didn't need to make a trip to Urgent Care on the way home.Sister, of course, flew around the rink without a problem. She's spectacular on skates! Here's Sister going around with Brother for a bit. I was actually roller blading backwards for this shot. Not to brag, of course. (;Brother wanted to cling to me, but I learned if I just let him go, he did very well. I kept reminding him to just take it slow and lift his feet like he was taking steps. He did really well. After a quick snack break...He began to feel pretty confident. He is going to be a great skater too soon, I think. Now, time to get Baby Bear in some skates. (=

Seaside is Sensational!

Guess who joined us in Seaside! That's right... the cousins!

First stop, Seaside Aquarium. The big kids all got fish to feed the seals.Cousin M learned that if you don't feed the seals quickly enough, they will splash you.Everyone loved checking out the different sea creatures. The touch tanks were very exciting.Memere and Papa had a wonderful time having all their grandkids together for the day.Brother and Cousin M had fun coloring. Now, we're off to Pig in a Pancake for some lunch. After lunch, it was time for some fun in the arcade.Bumper cars were a HUGE hit with the big kids. They went on them twice.Baby Bear enjoyed playing on the different games.Sister and Cousin J had a good time playing air hockey. Cousin J won the first game. Sister won the second. We decided it was best to leave them tied.Yes, it is "Wack a Mole" but larger! Here's Brother driving an airplane with some coaching from Daddy.Sister tried a little snowboarding. She was quite good.Brother and Cousin M have fun playing on the motorcycles. Not really the right way to ride them, but they had fun. Then, it was time to do some rides! We started with the Tilt a Whirl. Then, finally a ride the little guys can enjoy too...The Carassel. Memere rode with Cousin E and Papa held Baby Bear. After all those fun rides and games, it was time to enjoy the beach. It was Cousin E's first time playing in the sand. He loved it!Baby Bear tried to help Cousin E enjoy the sand a bit too much. (=Who needs some water? Down to the shore we go!What do you do when you find a really deep hole? Climb into it, of course.Look at my little sand creatures!Guess what time it is...S'more time! Thanks to my sister and her kids for coming down and helping us have such a wonderful day.

This little guy was our stowaway in the hood of my van. He wanted a change of scenery, I guess. Hopefully, he has found a new home.
We can't wait for next year's beach trip!
